Recall Watch: Pork, fruit spreads among pulled products

 

Brookwood Farms of North Carolina is recalling approximately 126,570 pounds of pulled pork products due to a soy allergen not declared on the product label. The recalled pork was produced between June 2014 and October 2016 and distributed nationwide. There have been no confirmed reports of injury or illness due to the recalled product.

 

Brownwood Farms in Michigan also announced a recall. They are recalling approximately 260,000 total units of fruit butters and preserves for containing undeclared milk. Those who have an allergy to milk run the risk of serious allergic reactions if they consume this product. The recalled butters and preserves were distributed across the United States but there have been no reported illnesses due to its consumption.

Big Y Honored By Conn. Food Bank for Providing 1M Meals

The Connecticut Food Bank is recognizing Big Y World Class Markets for providing food and funds for more than 1 million meals since 1998. On average Big Y delivers more than 20,000 pounds of food weekly to the Connecticut Food Bank to be distributed amongst its member programs. In addition, Big Y has also made significant financial contributions to the Food Bank and their employees volunteer weekly at the Connecticut Food Bank’s Wallingford Distribution Center.

Big Y leadership and 35 volunteers from local stores will attend the Food Bank’s presentation and spend the evening helping sort products in the distribution center.
