More fruits and veggies, more meals to-go and a “fresh new look,” are all part of the remodel at the Hemingway Avenue Stop & Shop.

The century-old grocer unveiled a “newly remodeled” market Friday.

And to celebrate its, “Commitment to the community, the store donated $1000 in cash and an additional $500 in non-perishable items to East Haven Food Pantry, an organization committed to fighting food insecurity in East Haven.”

In a news release, Stop & Shop said updates are centered on “delivering fresh, healthy, and convenient options that make grocery shopping easier for local customers.”

New features include an expanded produce section, sushi prepared fresh in store, and a hot bar featuring hot foods made fresh in store daily for meals and entertaining. The store has also introduced Pickup so local customers can shop online at www.stopandshop.com, pick their order at the store the same day, and have a Stop & Shop associate load their groceries right into their car.

“We’re excited to share our newly remodeled store with the community,” said Bryant Majors, Store Manager of the East Haven, CT Stop & Shop. “We’ve added more of what our local customers want – fresh produce, specialty cheeses, and seafood – plus lots of convenient meal solutions. We’re also proud to now offer pickup as we continuously work to make our customers’ shopping experience even easier and more convenient.”
