Stop & Shop has launched Bags 4 My Cause, a chain-wide program empowering customers to support local nonprofits while also helping the environment.
Each time a customer purchases a Bags 4 My Cause Community Bag — a reusable shopping tote — Stop & Shop will donate $1 of those proceeds to a local nonprofit organization selected by the store. Every month, all Stop & Shop stores will select a different local nonprofit as the beneficiary. Nonprofits will vary from store-to-store, but each organization selected will support education, civic, health & wellness, hunger relief and military/veterans.
Customers also have the option to redirect the $1 donation to a nonprofit of their own online utilizing directions provided on the Giving Tag affixed to each bag. Stop & Shop has prepopulated the list with more than 400 non-profit organizations located in each of the communities it serves across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York – ranging from local food pantries to animal rescue organizations. Bags are available for purchase at all Stop & Shop locations and retail for $2.50 per bag.
“Bags 4 My Cause is a perfect fit for Stop & Shop as it touches two areas of key importance to us – community and sustainability,” said Jennifer Brogan, Director of External Communications and Community Relations for Stop & Shop. “Through this program, we’ll be able to assist hyperlocal organizations that make a positive impact in all our communities, while also reducing our environmental impact by encouraging our customers to choose reusable.”
Nonprofit organizations interested in participating in Stop & Shop’s Bags 4 My Cause program can submit their request at www.stopandshop.bags4mycause.com.
